Keeping Your Balance

Weight transference is vital in the Golf swing for 2 simple reasons clarity of strike and power. The ideal finish position would consist of; Weight finishing balanced on front foot, sole of right foot pointing directly behind, right knee pointing at target, body pointing at target and this position should be held for at least 2 seconds.  To help accomplish strike, power and the above finish position try using the routine below.

The routine below should be used with a 7 iron.

  1. Start with normal set up position but make sure ball is positioned opposite your front foot

  1. Take club away to top of swing making sure of transferring your weight on to your back foot

  1. Make a conscious effort from top of swing to drive weight onto left side and taking a big step forward with back foot. Ideally you should finish well balanced with back foot finishing in front of left foot.

It is much better to see loss of balance moving forward in this routine than it is to see weight finishing on back foot.

Good Luck
